Following is a sampling of some of our more recent projects. We hope you find inspiration in these beautiful homes.

Santa Fe Meets Manhattan

An artfully modern Manhattan couple takes on a Santa Fe remodel in this incredible transformation from 1980’s builder’s spec home to 21st century Southwestern chic. A rich, sophisticated palette of grays, silver and chocolate define the sensuality and warmth found in this Zen inspired contemporary remodel.

This home was featured on the 2007 Santa Fe Interior Designer's Home Tour.

I would recommend Jeff Fenton of IM design studios to anyone, not only because of his design talent, but also because of his highly personal and individual approach to decorating. Jeff really gets to know his clients, know their likes and dislikes and uses that information as the input for design…Very early on I knew that Jeff really “got” what I was looking for. I always felt my opinions were listened to and were reflected in Jeff’s recommendations.

One of Jeff’s most important strengths is his ability to work with people (clients, suppliers, contractors, etc.,) to make the process fun and create a positive, constructive work environment. And last but not least, he has a superb design team in Chris Martinez and Pamela Thompson, who make the trains run on time, so to speak. They’re a fantastic team!

Thoughtful Design for a Connected Family

A successful, energetic young family blends contemporary styling with traditional Santa Fe elements. Golden palettes of bronze and deep blush marry walnut and mahogany wood tones, which grace the main living spaces. Vibrant collections of bolder colors wrap the game room and children’s bedrooms. This unique home is a colorful signature for the dynamic family who shares it.

This home was featured on the 2006 New Mexico Museum of Art FoCA Home Tour.

I am not sure I can express my gratitude strongly enough…Jeff Fenton and IM design studios has helped each of us express our personalities via the colors, furnishings and accessories throughout the house…With your guidance, we were able to blend our eclectic tastes while maintaining a feeling of contemporary elegance – quite a tall order! I also want to thank you for your organizational talents as this project could have been overwhelming in it’s scope had you not been so on the ball. You were always prepared…and generally a few steps ahead of the process…I feel nurtured in this home and look forward to sharing it with friends and family. It was a pleasure working with you Jeff.

Casa Segunda

Regional design elements including hand troweled plaster, hammered iron accents, patinated copper tables and weathered mesquite embrace a warm palette of Santa Fe inspired color, texture and local handicraft; creating the perfect home away from home, or "Casa Segunda" as the name suggests.

My husband and I found working with Jeff Fenton and the IM Design team to be a very positive experience. There was a desire to understand our needs and work together within the budget and timeframe outlined. The follow-up and attention to detail exceeded our expectations and the design project proved to be a very comfortable collabortive effort. We love the design of our home that fits our lifestyle and reflects Jeff's creativity. Not living in Santa Fe, the ability of IM Design to find and source resources locally and coordinate deliveries made the project that much easier!

A Room with a Canyon View

A professional couple with a passion for modern take on a Los Alamos remodel with spectacular canyon views. Hip. Urban. Bold. Cool… Is what the client asked us for. Orange. Green. Metallic. Texture…Is what we gave them. Working closely together, we evolved a fresh and dynamic lounge feel to this dramatic space. Angular architecture is further amplified with the use of strong color and textured metallic granite wallcoverings; all accented with bronze metallic paint. A striking mix of in meets out!

We can’t thank you enough for the wonderful job you’ve done designing and decorating our home. We wake up each day to a space that is more beautiful then we ever could have imagined thanks to Jeff and the IM design team. Everyone at IM design studios was professional and approachable from our first meeting through to the end of our project…the level of communication was excellent, whether in our regular face-to-face meetings or through phone and email correspondence.

All this aside, it was the talent and energy of your team that transformed our home into something very special. You listened carefully to our ideas, learned how we live, and studied our home. You were patient and flexible as we evaluated your proposals and we learned a lot about our own taste through the process. At the end of our collaboration, you implemented a design that respects our architecture and the surrounding views, our lifestyle, and our budget. We enjoyed the experience enormously, but we love the result even more!

1900 Queen Anne Beauty

This home located in historic Port Townsend, WA, had lost her shimmer due to years of neglect and a poorly executed renovation in the 1940’s. But thanks to the love and dedication of the homeowners, the architect, builder and design team, her former glory days as a reigning matriarch have been restored. The first order of business was to lift the house off its failing foundation and add a garden level to the home, making the house 3 stories from the original 2. Not only did this increase the bay views from the main living areas of the home, it also balanced the dramatic architecture of the original house. Painstaking attention has been paid to restoring the home while also keeping in mind that it needs to function in a modern way for its 21st century homeowners – and for the next 100 years! Michael Colbert and his team at Townsend Builders, Inc., and the architects at Richard Berg Architects have been dedicated to this amazing restoration for the last 2 years.

Jeff and Chris at IM Design Studios have been so easy to work with. They are incredibly conscientious about creating spaces that are comfortable for us and which reflect our tastes and personalities... a tall order but easily done given their breadth of experience and knowledge. Whether at our solar adobe home in Santa Fe or our historic Queen Anne home in Port Townsend, Jeff and Chris are a joy to work with!

From Warehouse to Their House

A former commercial warehouse becomes a renovated live-work space for an adventurous couple seeking an urban lifestyle. When Jeff Fenton and Chris Martinez, owners of IM design studios, found this building located in an artsy, up and coming neighborhood of Santa Fe, it was love at first sight…sort of. Friends thought they were crazy, and they probably were, but with a little vision and a lot of color, they successfully transformed this former plumbing supply warehouse into a vibrant, exciting, live-work space for themselves and their design business, IM design studios.

Here are some of our projects currently in process. Look for continued updates to the Portfolio page of our web site to watch the progress of these exciting homes.

One of the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified residential homes to be built in New Mexico. LEED is a green certification process requiring strict adherence to a stringent point system for environmental building. The homeowners are aiming for “Gold” certification on this home, but “Platinum” may be within our reach! This soon-to-be incredible home sits on a magnificent site overlooking Santa Fe with panoramic views of 3 mountain ranges. The home was designed by John Watson, a former student of Frank Lloyd Wright and is being built by Wolf Corp.
